An interesting read on how parents can encourage children to be kinder, and more compassionate. I have been very proud of my son’s recent altruistic behaviour. I’ve observed something similar to the research with him. He glows with pride when I praise his character as being generous, caring and kind. He is a recent big brother (his Dad has a new baby) and he seems to be keen to take on the nature of what he perceives to be brotherly. It’s really lovely, and makes me happy that he’s finding out how happiness can be located in acts of giving. On a side note, our kitten Doom turned 1 year old yesterday. I like to think having a pet has helped with developing some caring feelings too, though no mention of that in the article. Thoughts anyone?
